Delphi for PHP 2.0 is Out!
Hey, welcome to the world, Delphi for PHP 2.0! You can order your upgrade or new version right this very minute!
There are a lot of really cool things going on with this product. First up: there are some great features that make building PHP applications even easier. You can check them out at in PDF form, or you can go here to read about them:
http://www.qadram.com/vcl4php/docwiki/index.php/What_is_new_in_Delphi_for_PHP_2.0
Oh, wait, hey, check out that link! That’s right — that’ a Documentation Wiki! The entire set of documentation for Delphi for PHP 2.0 is on a Wiki. Sweet! So get busy and help out! Be advised that all contributions are governed by a Creative Commons License, and things posted to the Wiki very likely will end up in the "official" help file in the product. We have it set up so that the current state of the wiki can be captured and included as the official help, and we’ll be doing that.
We’ve also been getting a lot of great press:
- The Press Release
- InfoWorld: CodeGear upgrades PHP IDE by Paul Krill
- The Register: CodeGear’s Delphi PHP suite gets nip and tuck job
- Internet News (with quotes from yours truly): PHP IDE Space Gets Competitive
- eWeek (feel free to rate this article, by the way) : CodeGear Enhances PHP Tool
- SDTimes: CodeGear widens database support in upgrade to Delphi PHP 2.0
Hey, do you want to help out even more than updating the Wiki? There are a couple of ways for you to do that.
First, you can contribute to the VCL for PHP project, which is an open source project on SourceForge. You can contribute new components, fix bugs, and generally improve the code base.
You can also help by localizing the IDE to your favorite spoken language. Delphi for PHP 2.0 supports community-contributed localizations for the IDE. Out of the box we provide such localizations for:
- English
- German
- Traditional Chinese
- Portuguese
- Japanese
- Spanish
And we also make it easy for further localizations to be done, so if you can make an IDE localization in your language of choice, please do. Donate it to the community, and we all can benefit.

Those are nice videos you have on the Delphi for PHP page.
April 16th, 2008 at 1:53 pmGreat!
Nick, PHP IDE supports Unicode languages now. Does this mean it was created using Delphi 2008 Tiburion? I’m just curious.
Thanks,

Hi, Nick-san
How to translate Wiki document into Japanese? Is the website able to publish Japanese version?
April 18th, 2008 at 4:31 amNick, since de IDE is an apart project, is right the assumption that other products from CodeGear (read Delphi) will be realeased in diffent languages too?

Hi,
I paid for the order for Delphi for PHP 2.0 (www.digitalriver.com) immediately after the announcement was last month.
As of May 2, 2008, I still have not heard from CodeGear/DigitalRiver, as I was told that the software is ready for ESD (Electronic Software Delivery) on April 30th.
I have my existing project that would require this software.
Help!

The best thing to do would be to contact the place that you ordered from. ESD should be available right now.

May 2nd, 2008 at 4:29 pmHi Nick,
I already told the customer services rep of Digital River by phone yesterday that Delphi for PHP 2.0 should be ready by now. They said we have to wait until June 30th. What is going on?
I paid for the order through the Codegear Store:
http://www.codegear.com/products/delphi/php
Customer Name: Robert xxxxxxxxxx
Address: xxxxxxx
E-mail Address: xxxxxxxx@yahoo.com
Order Number: xxxxxxxx Order Status: Backordered
Purchase Date:16-APR-08

1 Pre-Order for Delphi for PHP V2.0 New User - ESD 1617826 Pre-order Downloadable Pending Shipment
I am not sure…but it looks like Borland’s customer service and sales are not top notch compared to what I remembered in the past. What happened? Should I write a complaint letter to Jim Douglas, CEO of CodeGear of this situation?

What is going on is that Digital River is screwed up.
Send me an email with all you information, and I’ll get it squared away for you.

When will the trial of "Delphi for PHP 2.0" be available for download? I currently use Delphi 2007, but I’d like to get started with PHP.
I couldn’t find any information on CodeGear’s site as to when the trial will be available. I’m not looking for an exact date, but is it closer to 2 weeks, or 2 months?

Whoo hoo! The trial download is now available!
May 5th, 2008 at 9:06 pmNick, I downloaded the trial edition of Delphi for PHP 2.0, and ran into immediate problems.
* When I dropped components (TButton, TLabel) on a form, the captions would not display.
* I couldn’t get my first application to Run. I see on a CodeGear forum that others have this problem, too, but I didn’t see a workable solution. Is FireFox a problem?
* The IDE is very slow. I read the explanation, but I’m not used to clicking on menus & components and having nothing happen for a couple of seconds.
* I couldn’t exit from the IDE. I had to use the Task Mgr to exit.
* The debugger continued running after I terminated the IDE.
I guess I could try to reinstall, but this was not encouraging…
