Nick’s Asia Trip: Australia

21 Oct

Well, I’m in Asia. My first stop was Australia. I feel like I’m in a pro basketball team — three cities in three nights so far. Monday night it was Melbourne, Tuesday Brisbane, and Wednesday night in Sydney. All three nights involved giving a rundown on what is up with RAD Studio 2007, as well as a go-through of our current roadmap. All three events were sponsored by the Australian Delphi Users Group. I appreciate all of you who attended — it’s always fun to "preach to the faithful". I appreciate the many questions — some of them blunt and to the point! — and for the kind words of welcome and appreciation.

You can download the slides from my presentation here.

In addition, during the day, we went and visited a number of clients in the various cities. These visits are very valuable to me, as they afford me the opportunity to see what real people are doing in the real world with Delphi. I’m learning that you all are doing some rather remarkable things. Some are running enormous financial systems handling billions of dollars. Others are running entire automated factories. And some of you are building a desktop application of astounding complexity and elegance for designing, in 3-D no less, circuit boards and computer chips. It’s quite gratifying to hear "We simply couldn’t have done this without Delphi".

I can finish this post without saying thank you to my gracious hosts Malcolm Groves, Ellissa Walkley, and especially Jim Chessell who traveled with me and took great care of me as we traipsed across Australia. All in all, it was a great time. Thanks very much, guys, I felt like a rock star.

The first thing I’m going to do when I get home is to see if I can find any Coopers Pale Ale. ;-)

Now, on to Korea!

Nick, seems that you forgot to publish the presentation download link. :-)

BTW, I like your blog theme now. Dark rad makes the posts so bright and clear.

I’m sorry Nick, but if you are in Australia then you are not in Asia. Australia is not part of Asia, Australia belongs to the Australia continent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia_%28continent%29

You must not have tried Boags yet!

My shout if you visit beautiful Tasmania at any stage :-)

    Another Tasmanian!

I’d agree with Robin there, try Boags. If you ever make it here, I’ll shout the second :)

sob!! Sob!! I missed it. Really wanted to come but being two days drive north of Brisbane doesn’t help. Actually, I thought Australia was a part of Oceania. Doesn’t matter the whole world knows those mad ozzies from down under ;-)
