Delphi and ASP.NET 2.0 Camtasia Demo
11 Oct
This is Part I of the ASP.NET demo that I did while over in Europe at EKON and SDC. It demos the basics of using Delphi, ASP.NET 2.0, Blackfish, and the DBXProvider to do web development, including logging in users and restricting content to be visible only to logged in users.

I’ll try to finish up with Part II (and maybe more, there’s a lot there) tomorrow before I leave for Asia.

While it is nice of you to publish these demos how come other Codegear staff are not publishing their topics that they covered in EKON.

Another nice insight into what you can do with Rad Studio. I’m still left confused by BlackFish - what is it exactly ? How is it deployed on a web server ? Did the user details get stored in a BlackFish database, or in some ‘magical’ ASP.NET configuration file ?

October 14th, 2007 at 9:17 amCodegear’s feature matrix about RAD Studio 2007 states about Blackfish:
"New! Blackfishâ„¢ SQL with local connectivity, 1 user (4 connections), 512MB database size, 512MB RAM usage" for the Pro version and
"New! Blackfish SQL with remote connectivity, 5 users (20 connections), 2GB database size, 1GB RAM usage" for the other versions.
Could you please clarify that LOCAL CONNECTIVITY means, there is no way to work with a remote web hosting system. Is that right (sorry for this maybe simple question, but the German hotline wasn’t sure at all) that I need an Architect or Enterprise version to get it going on a web hosting solution?

Local connectivity means that you can only connect on the same machine. You cannot connect to a remote machine.
This connectivity will work with an ASP.NET solution, particularly for in-process development.
