I’ve been at EKON this week — it was nice to see folks and to get in a few excellent technical sessions. Ray Konopka is here as he is every year and he did a great session on Parameterized Types. Holger Flick is doing a great job with ECO, and Hadi Hariri and Olaf Monien […]

Well, it’s been a bit busy for me the last few days. Let’s see — I last wrote on Day One of SDC, but that was almost a week ago, eh?
Tuesday: I had one talk to give at SDC, on Delphi and ASP.NET. It’s a pretty fun talk — in it a build a really […]

Felix John Colibri has a really nice article on dbExpress 4 with lots of code examples. Looks like he has a number of other good articles there as well.
The ISO’s for RAD Studio are now available for download. Please read carefully the instructions on that page — most notably that Internet Explorer will […]

Sorry — no Delphi Hour today. I am in Copenhagen today, and Anders is in Stockholm? Berlin? We are traipsing around showing off all the cool new stuff in RAD Studio 2007 and so there is no one in the Studio to do the show.
I think next week we’ll try to get one done from […]

The first day of the Software Developer Conference was fun — as I thought it woudl be.. These folks really know how to run a conference. My hats of to the great gang of friendly people that run SDC. Things are very well done.
Thoughts on the first day:
Went to a Chad Hower talk on for […]

I’m embarrassed and very sorry for the busted links in the previous message. They should all be fixed now. My apologies — there’s a lot of good content there, and I’m sorry that I delayed your getting to it.
Some folks have wanted to be able to download a ZIP file of Update 3. Now you […]

Anders Ohlsson did a great job putting together the RAD Studio Developer Days, a series of talks by R&D Engineers and community members that highlight some of the cool new features of CodeGear RAD Studio 2007.
And now the replays are available.

I still find it strange to be quoted in a big time magazine like SD Times. Wasn’t that long ago that I was just some schmoe shareware author.

Bruce McGee is a nice, level-headed guy. He’s always interesting to read in delphi.non-technical, and I always appreciate his clear-thinking posts. Over the years, Bruce has given us tons of hard-hitting but constructive criticism.
Lately, he’s been, like me, a proponent of Software Assurance. Bruce is a subscriber (thanks, Bruce!) and it really works for him. […]

Always nice to get some attention from the very popular Daily Grind.
Mike Gunderloy runs the Daily Grind (Feed is here), a popular blog about new doings in the world of .Net development. Mike is also the author of one of my favorite programming books, Coder To Developer.

Those folks that have known me for a while know that I’m not to smart on the C++ side of things. I’m pretty much of a Delphi-head, and have never really learned a lick of C++. I’ve been long involved with the Delphi community, but haven’t really got much knowledge about what C++ developers want […]

I’m pretty excited about Blackfish SQL. If you haven’t yet heard about Blackfish, it’s a fully managed, SQL-compliant database application that can scale from being your enterprise-level database all the way down to an embedded, ISV solution for a desktop application. It runs either on Java or on the .Net platform, and allows you to write […]

Sometimes you buy something and it just feels so good to use it. Usually, something like that is a relatively expensive purchase. Maybe you went a head and spent the extra money for the nicer version or model, and you ended up getting more than your money’s worth. Or you went ahead and bought […]

All right, time to break out the old-school DOS knowledge from way back. Anyone know how to make this command:
for /d %%a in ("%ALLUSERSPROFILE%Application Data{*") do rd /s /q "%%a"
find (and then, of course, delete) hidden directories?
