Mark -> I believe you misread their April First fool's day post as actual news.

As for is it safe? They claim to be hosted by Stardock, and you can confirm that by searching around in stardock's wincustomize forums. I doubt that Stardock with attach its name in any way at all if it was a sleezy virus delivery method.

Actually, I think you have the wrong conspiracy theory here anyways. Samurize looks like a VERY sophisticated bit of code that competes with StarDock's own products - it seems odd to me that they would help the competition out like that, esp. one who so undercuts their price.

No, with the amateurish phpnuke-like website they have going, I would say that it's probably more of a arm's length relationship to attract that portion of the market that eschews (nay despises!) companies that show the slightest degree of professionalism.

Or maybe it is intended to be your first free taste and when you come back for more, maybe you start buying stardock's other complimenting products.

Either way, it seems to have the right of legit to me.

And truely, it does look like a new and novel way to clutter your desktop and slow down your machine all while making the UI so alien to everyone else that no one can figure out how the heck to use the machine at all.

Some people really seem to like that sorta thing, so kudos to them for doing what looks like an excellent job at it!

Have you checked-out Sumarized? Is it safe? I would be worried about it including a virus.

The developers are currently experiencing some problems and may no longer enhance their product. Free may be very expensive.
