Camtasia #30 - Debugger is up. Here is the ZIP. Okay, so it took me a little longer than 30 days. But I did thirty! And don’t worry, I’ll have more demos to come. I just won’t be trying to do one every day.

Here’s a random thought: It’s been a while since I did a RTotPS. So here is one. I confess it: I installed VS.NET on my machine. And now everytime IE opens a page with a Javascript error on it, a dialog pops up and insists on trying to get me to start Visual Studio to debug […]

I just got back from a great trip to Germay to attend the European Developers Conference. It was great to get out and visit with customers (I met a Delphi programmer from Nigeria there!) and see what they were up to. I gave the Delphi Product Address to a pretty nice crowd, and had a lot of […]

We’ve taken all the hotfixes for BDS 2006, added a new, very nice hotfix, and rolled them all up in a single installer that does all the work of putting them onto your machine. The previously unmentioned hotfix of interest is #9, which fixes an IDE memory leak. Mark Edington gets the credit for tracking […]

Camtasia #28 - Live Templates is up. Here is the ZIP. This one covers Live Templates, including using and building them. In the demo I mention the Delphi Wiki, and most notably this page, which has the MessageDlg template from Dr. Bob on it. There is also a page on the Wiki with has some more technical information about […]

How cool is this? Weird Al Jankovic has a new video out called “White and Nerdy“, and if you watch it and listen carefully you’ll notice that Al is a Pascal programmer, saying “At Pascal, I am number one“! (He also knows Javascript and Klingon). You can look at the lyrics […]

If you are so inclined, please feel free to burn CD’s with the Turbo versions on them. You can get ISO images from here: http://www.turboexplorer.com/downloads Simply choose one of the mirrors and then download the ISO images. In addition, those links have PDF’s of the artwork for the CD’s as well. If you are smarter […]

Hey, is there a guy that has been more a more dedicated Delphi community member for longer than Dr. Bob? I don’t think so — may some have been his equal, but none have exceeded him. And of course, The Hat! So, his latest is a good, free tutorial on accessing data using Turbo C++ […]

Okay, I didn’t make it. I’m three demos short of thirty in thirty days. Alas. I was going to stay up late last night and do them, but spending time with my daughter got bumped up on the priority list. I’m sorry to let you guys down. However, I will do the remaining three for a total […]

Camtasia #24 - TurboPad: Saving is up. Here is the ZIP. This one covers the intricacies of tracking changes, and properly saving text in TurboPad. The sounds is a little weird again — don’t know why. This one took a lot of editing, but I think it should be relatively coherent.

Camtasia #23 - TurboPad: File Menu is up. Here is the ZIP. This one covers the rest of the File Menu, including Save and Save As…. The sound on this one is a little weird — I’m doing these from home while I visit my family back in Minnesota, so it isn’t done under the “normal“ circumstances. […]

A long time ago — centuries in Internet time, may fifteen to twenty years or so in real time — Jeff Duntemann wrote the manuals for Turbo Pascal. Many consider his manual on object-oriented programming to be almost definitive. He’s a terrific writer, and he’s been blogging long before any of us ever heard of […]

It took a lot of work, but we finally got the government to agree not to force us to put this label on the Turbos. I don’t think it would have helped things….

Hey, this is fun: the folks over at TechSmith, the makers of Camtasia, notice that I was doing 30 Camtasias in 30 days, and posted about it in their blog. They made me “Screencast of the Week“! Very nice, guys! Thanks.

Many of you are asking about upgrading from Turbo Explorer to Turbo Professional. Right now, you can’t do it on shop.borland.com, but you can with some of the resellers: http://www.provantage.com/delphi-compilers~66DPLNG_0.htm http://www.cdw.com/shop/search/results.aspx?key=turbo+Delphi&sr=1&platform=all&x=0&y=0 http://www.programmersparadise.com/Product.pasp?txtCatalog=Paradise&txtCategory=&txtProductID=B19+0S7J(though this one has a typo in the name — “Turo Delphi“, and it doesn’t list a price) http://www.pcmall.com/pcmall/search/search.asp?search=turbo+delphi&submit1=Find&NavID_Search=false&CurDSN=simple&calledfrom=1&incimage=on

Neil Rubenking has a very nice review of the Turbo products up on PC Magazine’s website. Four and a half little circles out of five! Not bad. Neil Rubenking wrote what I think was the first Delphi book ever published: Delphi for Dummies. (I actually have an autographed copy, I’m proud to say) Neil’s been a […]

#21 - TurboPad: About Box is up. Here is the ZIP. In this one, I start a new series that will show the basics of application development by building a “Notepad replacement” application. Pretty basic, but this should get people started building apps, using actions, and generally exercising the IDE. And I should note that […]
