Rush, Snakes, Arrows, PHP, MySQL, Developer Days, and Delphi: all one big conspiracy

Rush has a special place in my heart. Rush Signals tour, was my first rock concert, Geddy was my first (virtual) bass tutor - I learned to play bass to Fly by Night, Moving Pictures, 2112, and Farewell to Kings - plus many many great concert memories and songs and albums… On Thursday March 1st, Rush is releasing Snakes and Arrows. I’ve been listening to the meager 15 second clip of “Far Cry“ on their website for a few weeks eagerly waiting the album release - (yes I realize how fan geeky that sounds). Hopefully that 15 second clip is indicitive of the whole album. What does this have to do with CodeGear and my blog? umm… nothing really…. except that I’m going to buy the album on Thursday and rip it into my Zune before I leave for Japan on Saturday for CodeGear Developer events in Tokyo, Sydney, and Melbourne - (yes I’m one of the eight or nine people in the world that bought a Zune - i got the matte black one - and I am still searching for my first wireless friend to share a DRMless song with)

Tokyo CodeGear Developer Camp - March 6th

Sydney CodeGear Developer Day - March 8th

Melbourne CodeGear Developer Day - March 9th

Hmm, I just noticed that the Rush website is written in PHP!  So… a new Rush album and Delphi for PHP in the same month. Cooincidence? No way. Rush is a Canadian band and my first Borland boss in ‘97 (and original Delphi product manager), Zack Urlocker, received his Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo… in… you guessed it… Candada! still think it’s all a cooincidence? Both Delphi for PHP and the new Delphi 2007 for Win32 support MySQL 5 (as well as InterBase!) out of the box, and get this, Zack is Vice President of Marketing for MySQL…  There are no cooincidences!

You really, really need to careful and keep all these coincidences in line. Breaking the chain will have a very serious negative effect on your juju … the only avenue I see open to you is very deep discounts on CG products for … <wait for it> … Canadians.

    Enjoy your trip.
