I looked at the feature matrix for C++ Builder 2009 and all looks great except...

WHY on EARTH do you guys keep remote debugging out of the Professional version? I can do remote debugging with ANYTHING Microsoft - in ANY version. And, I even have TWO debuggers to choose from - the one in the IDE or WinDbg!

I had hopes you guys would pull your collective heads out of the sand when Embarcadero took over, but I guess that's just too much to hope for.

Fri 8/22/2008 11:13 am. Greetings, Intersimone! Long may you sip! ... My plea is simple: that Codegear produce a Delphi/Builder product that is price-competitive with VS2008. I have used Delphi since Delphi 2, and actually wrote numerous industrial programs in the 16-bit version; I went into Egghead and asked for the product that "wrote programs itself" and the sales guy and I agreed Delphi would do the trick.

But how times change! Then, Microsoft had the ridiculously over-priced bug-ridden products, and Borland was the sneaky mammal running around the lizard's legs! ... Alas, no more.

I know it's hopeless, and maybe you guys lobby for this all the time, but when I bought VS2005 "standard" it was less than $250; VS2008 standard is $260 at Amazon (I got the upgrade for for $170). It includes all the little .NET languages and native-code C++, has a million attachments, the usual totally-useless Microsoft help, and all kinds of other puzzling lunacies.

But I'm not paying $1000+ for an IDE suite with one language; I suppose someone does, but it won't be us programmers in the trenches. ... So, give us a product for $275 that includes Delphi and C++Builder, and maybe some .NET nonsense, appropriately crippled and trimmed-down to make it standard -- and I *might* buy it.

Like I said, I know it's hopeless. But,

-- good luck, embarcadero Codegear!

Hi,

I saw in the announcement at http://dn.codegear.com/article/38478 there are more webinars available than the ones listed here (the ones with David I)

I am interested in particularly in "Get off your ASCII and expand your business to global markets using Delphi 2009 and C++Builder 2009"

I can't for the life of me work out where to register for any of these ones not presented by David I.

Does anybody know?

I'm using CodeGear Version 11, and it allows me to specify the OBJ files be put in a specified folder, but it doesn't put the TDS files in that same folder.

The reason this is annoying is because I backup my source code by copying the entire folder and its subfolders, and these gigantic TDS files are in those folders.

Could you make newer versions of the compiler put the TDS files in the same folder as the OBJ files? That way we can easily backup our source code without these temporary files wasting our time or space.

Great!
When hurry, I use Delphi to write DB app.
But my main tool is BCB because I have to deal with matrix, vector and mathe compuatation so my tool it really C++ Builder and I have some problem with boost library compilcation, so I use DEVCPP as spare compiler.

Borland C++ Buider is great ! sicne back into Turbo C++ for DOS. I am glad to this good new !
