the technical mutual opportunities coming from embarcadero are simply huge. among other cool things, embarcadero has a legendary database designer, with true separation between the physical and logical layer, different notations (designer renders modeling entities polimorphically) and real life inspired database independence (being generic at logical model level while not loosing specificity when it comes to physical model) with true two-way database refactoring, encouraging the best practices when it comes to database modeling design patterns. adding to this mix the fact that delphi (object pascal/delphi language) currently have the best oop / componentness model and best framework, being the only one with win32 and .net true portability (vcl/vcl.net), the fact the the delphi/bcb ide simply rocks - best form designers, code editors, property editors, component editors, existing affordable, first class level 3rd party component libraries for both win32 and .net, multiple database connectivity technologies, internal and 3rd party, well, all these facts will definitely boost an expolosion of innovation, quality, new features, affordability and success for the new entity (Embarcadero Delphi, David, I hope you are going to keep the Delphi, BCB and JBuilder "holy" names!)

so, i am mute! It's perfect. i wish i were there... :-)

Great!!! Embarcadero is a super cool company, their software is extremely complex, unique, true database modeling (I've used in Ernst & Young, cap Gemini, for years) and I am super confident that the outstanding Embarcadero upper management and engineering will give Delphi, BCB, JBuilder a true home, finally after all these years!!! So, Great, Congratulations, say hi to everyone from "old" Dan :-)

I am super confident that the unique database skills Embarcadero always invested in their true / real life products (talking specifically about new ErWin) will naturally merge with Delphi, BCB, JBuilder & Interbase. The amount of opportunity (into innovating together, now with true database players) is simply huge. Both embarcadero and Borland (CodeGear related) products are simply the best. What a great mix!

I am so happy for you guys!!! I wish we were there together to share this super cool news (the bast in 12 years, that's for sure!!!)

Now, the best development tools in the world will get a new life, especially in database area. Super Super Super!!!

Regards,
Daniel

C Johnson: We are staying at the campus and many other CodeGear locations. Part of the agreement is to let us sub-lease the Scotts Valley offices. Embarcadero is interested in all of the products and all of the people. The approach is absolutely in line with the original divestiture plans of Feb 6, 2006.

I am hoping that the campus is part of the purchase and a huge, distracting and potentially staff sheding relocation isn't in CodeGear's near future.

I'm still a little ambivalent about the whole thing, but it does seem to closely approach the original ideal of long term investors.

I'm curious to see how this plays out, particularilly in relation to Interbase and Blackfish.
