In the recent Time magazine report on "One Day in America", the issue lists the American workers hapiness index. The index lists jobs by the percentage of workers in a category that report they are very happy with their job.
Computer programmers, in the Computers and Technology category, are listed as 30.1% very happy with their job. This ranks programmers in between Dress Makers (28.7%) and Waiters and Waitresses (31.5%) on the results list. Computer Systems Analysts are even happer at 38.7%. Clergy/Priests (67.2%) were listed as the most "very happy" and Garage and Gas Station Attendents (13.2%) were listed as the least "very happy".
