The following are some recent articles, news, blog posts, and events that I enjoyed reading. Lots of good, interesting information, ideas, and warnings for developers:
- "Valley leaders riff on top tech trends". A panel of VCs made their predictions for the Top 10 Trends. The panel included John Doerr (Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers), Roger McNamee (Elevation Partners), Steve Jurvetson (Draper Fisher Jurvetson), and Joe Schoendorf (Accel Partners).
- New chips coming from Intel in 2008.. You can also read more about the new chips in an Intel web site article.
- How to Deal with a Tech Layoff . - Enterprise SOA Adoption to Double in Next Two Years. eWeek’s Darryl Taft, referring to a recent Evans Data research report, writes that "nearly one-fourth of the enterprise-level developers surveyed said they already have SOA environments in place, and another 28 percent plan to do so within the next 24 months."
- Is Blogging Just the Tip of the Co-Technology Iceberg?. "Gartner says that the total number of bloggers will peak during the first half of this year at around 100 million, causing John R. Patrick to ask rhetorically whether spring 2007 truly is The Peak of Blogging?"
- 3D desktops. The article has two links to YouTube videos with demos of BumpTop (a physics-based desktop prototype) and Beryl (a Linux-based OS).
