CodeGear’s JBuilder 2007 scores higher than IBM’s Rational Application Developer and Sun’s NetBeans in InfoWorld Java IDE comparison

Andrew Binstock just completed a comparative review of Java IDEs including CodeGear’s JBuilder 2007, IBM’s Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software 7.0, and Sun Microsystem’s NetBeans 5.5.  The results were published in InfoWorld today. The final scoring shows JBuilder 2007 with a “Very Good” rating of 8.6 to Rational Application Developer rated “Good” with a score of 7.9 and Sun’s NetBeans 5.5 rated “Good” with a score of 7.5.

Two quotable quotes from the article:

  • “It’s safe to say that CodeGear decided to throw everything it had at this release — and succeeded brilliantly.”
  • “JBuilder feels solid throughout — a remarkable achievement given its status as a first release on Eclipse.”

Not only did CodeGear’s team beat IBM’s team at Software Development West 2007 Developer Bowl (trivia contest) but now our JBuilder team can enjoy the results of the InfoWorld Java IDE comparative review. For JBuilder 2007, this is just the first version of the IDE built on top of Eclipse.  Stay tuned to CodeGear’s JBuilder web site for additional information.
