If you listen to what’s happening in our industry, you’d know that Web 2.0, Windows Vista, dynamic languages, and Microsoft .NET 2.0/3.0 are important areas to many of our customers. If I listen to the newsgroups, emails, and conversations face to face, I also hear that 64-bit, personal devices, concurrent programming, and Linux are also important.
If I really listen, everywhere I go, everyone I talk to still cares about native code and Win32. Several community members have blogged about what they need this year for native code Delphi, Windows Vista support, and enhancements in building Internet applications. With yesterday’s announcement of Delphi 2007 for Win32, we are telling everyone that we really listened! We are now embarking on world tours to showcase Delphi and also introduce the new Delphi for PHP bringing RAD, component based, dynamic web programming for the masses.
Stay tuned to CodeGear.com and dn.CodeGear.com for additional articles and videos. I hope to see some of you in Amsterdam, London, and Frankfurt next week. We will also have the CodeRage online conference the week of March 12th showcasing our new products, JBuilder 2007, C++Builder, and InterBase.

Im afraid I will have to disagree David about having really listened to developers.
If there is an aim to get NEW professional Delphi native developers on board no upgrade path for Turbo Delphi 2006 to the new 2007 Win32 is in my opinion a bad mistake.
I am one such person . Purchased the Turbo Pro 1 Month ago as I didnt need all the personalities of BDS2006 (I have VS 2005 Team Edition for Software developers for C#,ASP.Net etc ). Just wanted a productive, current native Win32 tool with minimal deployment woes. Really warmed to product and can see the potential in there.
Had I had any Idea that 2007 Win32 was on horizon I would have waited, saved up and got that(Its my own money Im spending).
Now Im told no upgrade pricing to 2007 Win32 as that is a ‘Studio’ product . In the UK that equates to £616 including VAT WITHOUT SA.
Needless to say Im passing on that and Im very very unlikely to consider any further purchases from CG Resellers if this is how things are going operate.
What? Turbo is being abandoned after one iteration?
Based on Comments here, an updated Road Map for the Studio Line is needed.
Turbo(s) are not being abandoned. They are out there and will be updated over time.

There is an upgrade path for Turbo Delphi 2006 Pro customers it is to upgrade to Delphi 2007 for Win32 Professional

It is on the list of things we need to do. Unicode database support is now included in DataBase Express (DBX) 4 for SQL databases that provide unicode support.
Unicode support for Delphi / VCL is on the list of to do(s).
Delphi in Spanish, Delphi in Spanish
Delphi en Español, Delphi en Español
Just in case you don’t read Nick’s blog and I am interested in your response
I have a suggestion that IMHO would be in the best interest of CG and users:
CG should offer, for a limited time, the ability for any user of any product to purchase Software Assurance at the currently published SA prices. Effectively an upgrade to current version (from any previous version) and SA in one attractive price.
This would address the following biggest concerns:
a. D2007 cost is too high, on it’s own.
b. CG deservses compensation for the new features (after all - we collectively asked for these - now).
c. Most improtant - get the masses to begin using D2007!!!
If I understand correctly, to get SA I have to buy/upgrade to the latest version and then additionally buy SA. Make SA more like an upgrade… after all it would appear that CG would like us all to have SA… so promote it.
This would result in a more reasonable price to attain D2007 especialy because it will include anything else you decide to pump out in the next year. I for one would be less concerned about what you’re plans are for the next year (aka roadmap), from a budgeting point of view. In fact, I would likely re-subsribe to SA indefeintaly… (providing you don’t drastically alter the current proce point) since this allows both sides to budget.
PS I don’t mean to sound so negative… I am a big fan of Delphi and want to see it revivied in a big way (the potential is there)! And although I don’t use all the features I rest well at night knowing that I have a development suite that continues to evolve - giving me the ability to produce just about anything a client might ask for.
Rick.
Is it possible to see a complete list of everything included in this release, all the small fixes, enhancements, QC items etc. If so could you please post the link.
Is some more fastcode stuff put into this release or other performance enhancements? Thanks.

We will absolutely do this. Once Delphi 2007 ships, the Quality Central (QC) system will be updated (like it has for the product versions before) with a R.I.B (Resolved in Build) build version number. This will allow all users to do queries against QC to see what was fixed, closed, etc.
John Kaster wrote a CDN article about this for a previous version of Delphi. Check out the article at http://dn.codegear.com/article/33338
Hi David. Great to see my issue has been resolved so promptly. Hat off to you all at CG !
Firebird Support?? Or am I the only one that sees this as a GREAT requirement from developers?
