DevNooz - Sunday, December 17, 2006 - www.codegear.com, USB toys, Open Source Ajax, hotel RFID room-key wriststraps, and more

DevNooz (Developer News) from the past few days:

I read the following news article on endgadget.com. The article talks about a new use for your USB port. AirSoft turret USB missle launcher mows down unsuspecting office mates. Using your USB port you can fire missles at your unsuspecting co-workers.

Google open sources its Google Web Toolkit (GWT). The toolkit has been released using the Apache 2.0 license. You can find more information about the AJAX toolkit on Google’s Web Toolkit developer web site.

RFID to open your hotel room - When you check in to the Great Wolf Lodge at Paramount King’s Island in Mason, Ohio, you’ll receive a wrist strap (containing an RFID tag) to open your room. The wrist strap can also be used to pay for food and drinks at the theme park island.

From the AJAXWorld news desk - AJAX3D - Open Platform for Rich 3D Web applications. AJAX3D is based on the integration of two programming models: the W3C Document Object Model (DOM) and the ISO Scene Access Interface (SAI). Read the whitepaper ad the AJAX3D.org web site.

If you are using or thinking about using an Agile method, read Scott Ambler’s "An Agile New Year’s Resolution for All of Us" on the DDJ developer portal. Scott believes that "the agile community is at a crossroads: It has reached the chasm point in Geoffry Moore’s technology adoption curve and is looking over the precipice."

The new www.codegear.com/ web site is up and running!!! Stay tuned for additional enhancements the next few days.
