Moss - a system for detecting software plagiarism…

A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to take part in the Cal Poly SLO Computer Science Department faculty retreat.  One of the sessions, during the day, focused on academic integrity.  Several of the professors talked about a UC Berkeley tool for detecting plagiarism in software programs. The software is called Moss (Measure of Software Similarity).  In the past, the Internet based service was only available to faculty and staff of programming courses.  Now the service is available to anyone as long as you don’t use it commercially.  The software supports numerous programming languages including C, C++, Java, C#, Python, Visual Basic, and Pascal.
