I’ve written and spoken several times about the shortage of women in Computer Science. Time Magazine this week has an article titled "Steering Girls into Science". Last week was National Engineers Week. Schools and organizations celebrated an "Introduce a Girl to Engineering" day. Quoted from the Time Magazine article, Stanford University research said "by the age 12, children have formed hard and fast beliefs about the subjects at which they excel and those in which they fail." The magazine article goes on to say "there aren’t enough young people (men included) in the pipeline to replace all the talent that flooded the sciences after Sputnik."

yet, it is common that women are not accepted for programmer, science positions in many cases just because they are women. This is not a luck of candidates which make a difference it is a luck of acceptance after graduation which makes difference. Womens after 25-30 which spent wheir time in education to reach higher degree will have lower possibility of to be accepted for the position because they are old, because they are overqualified to be on entry position, but yet have not enough actual experience to show for the position they are applied for. Blonde and preaty makes difference and there is a luck of demand for science from them… and then kids and family makes final point…
