A roadmap is in the works explaining the plans. C++ and Delphi together make a 'mini-studio', you'll even see how the splash screen says 'RAD Studio' when both personalities installed. The IDE is already designed to support a studio. The only headache on my end is the number of install and test permutations - good thing we have a lot of automated testing. As to the Delphi 2007 DVD installing over Cogswell, we would need to go back and fix that for the D2007 CD’s we released. We’re doing that fix for C++Builder 2007 for future releases, I agree it’s something we need to protect people from.

Anyone inserting the Delphi 2007 DVD to update or reinstall Delphi 2007, when C++Builder 2007 is already on there, should get a warning from the installer.

This is something the installer should protect people from!

When you have a choice between making a serious mistake impossible, and documenting how to avoid the mistake, always choose making the mistake impossible, or at least more difficult, instead of giving users more factoids to remember.

This sort of thing leads to the nightmarish levels of "accidental complexity" that a Windows IT administrator has to deal with. :-)

I like the web based installs. I also hope that for those with SA, and who didn’t buy C++Builder2007, a new Delphi 2007 install dvd would be issued. No big matter since apparently we can save the download files from the web download version to our own DVD-R, but it would be nice, even so!
