Today we had a party celebrating the closing of the deal!
A lot of Embarcadero folks, including CEO Wayne Williams came down to celebrate with us CodeGearians.
Here’s a shot of a small portion of the party:

Chris Bensen (photo geek extraordinaire) told me to get a picture of feet, so here you go:

Greg Jorgensen is chatting with David I (out of focus):

Nice shirt, Greg! (everybody got one)

I just couldn’t resist shooting Michael Swindell off of Mark Howe’s shades:

More artistic and crazy pics can be found if you click on any of these pics and play around!
Enjoy!

Goodbye Borland, and thanks for all the fish! It’s been a great ride, and tomorrow starts another great ride with Embarcadero Technologies!
386 million what? Oh, David and Allen was mentioning days, so I just wanted a bigger number, since my number of years is less…
The below picture has nothing to do with anything, really. It’s last night’s smoggy sundown in Santa Cruz, and I figured I’d put it in here.

While in Tokyo, I also did four press interviews. I just found this one - Mr Harada-san with Nikkei Software interviews me - http://itpro.nikkeibp.co.jp/article/Interview/20080612/307894/
Google translate doesn’t really do a good job, so maybe I can dig up a good translation soon.

I was busy contemplating the Tokyo subway map trying to figure out how to get to a good toy store, when the building started swaying back and forth, lamps shaking. I instantly knew it was an earthquake, and a strong one… It was a good minute or so. I looked it up, but couldn’t find it right away, but just now it was posted on USGS. About 200 miles north of where I am. 6.9 magnitude.

We had a good Tiburon field test meeting at the Developer Camp as well. Afterwards we went out to dinner and enjoyed awesome Japanese food and drink!

I swear it’s a total coincidence that all the distilled products are in front of me…

Fujii-san took this picture of my opening session at the 9th Developer Camp in Tokyo, Japan. I also had a session on Delphi for PHP version 2.0, as well as many press interviews over the last couple of days.
All in all, a fantastic event, and I’m honored to have been invited as the featured speaker.
Thanks Japan!

Fujii-san told me I am the first non-Japanese CodeGear person to dine on Monja.
But hey, why stop there?
Under Fujii-san’s expert supervision, I became the first non-Japanese CodeGear Monja Master.

Mal, you really need to try this stuff. It’s the bomb!
The Okonomi-Yaki was awesome too!

I have arrived in Tokyo, for the 9th Developer Camp put on by the CodeGear Japan Team. It’s a customer event designed to provide updates and technical training for existing customers, as well as information to new prospects.
That’s awesome, but what do you mean by Fish Jerky?

As you may be able to tell, I’m sitting in a traditional Japanese restaurant eating a favorite food of mine, and since it’s dried fish we (Fujii-san, Yaegashi-san and myself) to call it "Fish Jerky".
OK, back to working on those slides…

Yours truly will be in Japan for Developer Camp Japan.
It’s quite an honor for me, and also my first trip to Japan.
