Frustrated with your development processes? Get M.A.D.
In the last JBuilder hour I talked about the evolution of the development process used by the JBuilder team. In the past we followed a fairly traditional waterfall model, and over the past two years we’ve been slowly moving to a more agile approach.
Our current processes is based on SCRUM. We actually started with textbook SCRUM while building JBuilder 2007, and modified it to better suit our needs. We call the current variation "Modified Agile Development", or "MAD". It’s very pragmatic, and is based on our experiences. In my opinion, the "right" processes varies based on several factors. Some of the key forces that drive processes adoption include the maturity/cohesiveness of the team, the type of development projects they are working on and their familiarity with the domain.
Of course, the TeamInsight feature in JBuilder 2007 is built specifically to enable teams to adopt agile processes easily.
The video is recorded for playback here, I’d love to hear your feedback on how your team works!
