Getting Ready for Field Test
We’ve been heads down working on Peloton, and we’re about to launch our first field test. We’re previewing the (completely new) EJB Designer in this field test, as well as project import and conversion from descriptor-based EJBs to xdoclet and Java 5 annotation-based development. This is just one of the feature sets in Peloton, we’ll be introducing others in Field Test updates — including web services development and TeamAssist(TM). If you’re interested in participating in the field test, and can commit to spending several hours a week using Peloton for EJB development, we’d love to have you on the team. Drop me a note, or email our PM at marty.thompson commercial-at borland.com.
This week both Sun and Oracle took pot shots at Borland, claiming that Borland is not interested in developers. Laughable, nothing could be more untrue. In fact, the entire divestiture show their support for developers. They could have just shelved the IDE products, or let them languish. Instead they are spinning us out as a completely new business.
In fact, while there have been layoffs in the rest of Borland, we’ve been busily hiring. Several ex-Borlanders that left in the past few years have returned. Karl Ewald, one of the key developers of enterprise and web tooling in JBuilder is back. So are Lata Amujuri and Nevil Patel in QA. George Paolini, ex-GM for the IDE business unit at Borland is back helping us with JBuilder again. Jens Ole Lauridsen, Steven Shaughnessy and Lee Cantey — all long time Borland engineers are back working on Delphi and C++.
Nick Hodges pointed out this fitting rebuttal to Sun
This is a really exciting time at DevCo, which makes the comments from Sun seem even more out in left field.
JBuilder Peloton, get ready for the ride of your life…
